Description

Kiriban prize for :iconjockeyy:, Simba (from the lion king) in horse form
"If you see any of my drawings in the front page, do a screenshot of the scene and send it to me for note. If you are the first person in send it to me, I will do the chibi you wnant from me. But please, only if that drawing is one of the first 24 images from the top of the front page"

I know my neck has been too long, I'm in a time where I want to especially draw ponies and I'm a little rusty with the anatomy of horses more "realistic." I've put the neck darker than the rest of the body because Simba had the whole area covered by her hair and thought that would be better so, otherwise it looked too much like Spirit.

Alright, first off, I must say that I do love the expression and pose of this piece. You've really captured the personality of Simba and the piece itself almost looks lively. Howeverthe anatomy needs some work. Anatomy is one of the hardest things to get right when dealing with equines, and angles only add to the difficulty. I know it's hard to stylize things and keep the anatomy but I still see problems in the barrel area, also his hind could be bigger to counter balance the size of his head and the length of his neck.

It would have been nice if some deeper shadows would have been explored to give it some more depth, especially on the muscles and in the mane and tail.

The cute little highlights in the mane and tail were a good touch, the lighting is set fairly well. The legs are done well, they capture enough of the shape while still being simplified.

All in all, it is well simplified, but the anatomy is off, finding a reference can help with the pose, angle, and lighting. Still, I find this darn cute. <img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/h/h…" width="15" height="13" alt="" title="Heart"/> Good job.
