With or Without Texture? by MySweetQueen With or Without Texture? by MySweetQueen
the animal is an adoptable I've been holding, but don't pay attention to that, I'll put it on sale later.
I want you to look at the colors and texture, I'm experimenting and it seems putting textures to drawings have good results, but I'm not sure...

I personally think textures in drawings like this ruin them like a stain, but that's probably because I'm not used to it.
Help me with this please >< do it looks better with or without the texture?

Con ella, le da más realismo y no quedan colores tan planos. pero esa es mi opinión, claro, de las dos formas es bonito.

With !!! It actually puts some reality/dimension into it ! lol I don't know how to explain it. but its a plus when you try and put a texture in with a drawing ^^

Hmm, texture is difficult and depends alot on what you want to say about the surface you're putting it on. Like the texture for fur would be real different from feathers or wings or hair or bare skin for that matter. So for this I would suggest keep the textures on the main body at least. The main body, especially around the neck, chest, and face looks good with this texture. However adding a different texture, very lightly, to the mane and tail might help give the feeling of hair to your creature. You might even want to attempt to up the opacity or lighten the textures in some areas like around the inside of legs and the tips of the horns so there's a fade out.

Texture in this context, that is going from something that is super flat and graphic, takes some getting used to and there best done gently and with control. Texture can help add variety and break up a flat area but too much can add glaring contrasts and be distracting.

well if i were you i'd take out the texture on the horns and hooves, and maybe on the mane and tail, but keep it on the body!
maybe it would look better if you put some glass-like shine on the hooves and horns and make them another, natural, color.
(sorry for any mistake in my english, i am not a natural speaker)

Personally I like texture it adds a organic, softer warm feel but with an adoptable it might be worth keeping it clean and flat on the count that it's kind of a "reference" for a design and unintended marks or changes in colour from overlaying a texture might confuse or complicate a design.
You could always try controlling the texture you apply better by using textured brushes to colour, this might take longer to get the hang of but once you do it looks pretty good and means you can control colour and marks better.
Just an alternative idea.

I think the texture looks cool, but honestly, I really think your style is just awesome without it! I like the... smoother look to it, I guess :D

You're getting a pretty thorough mixture of comments, it looks like... Personally, I couldn't pick which one is better; they have different feels to them. So I suppose it depends what you're going for. Ultimately it's a matter of taste.

Definitely looks better without. The texture doesn't add to your style, it doesn't need it.

With, especially on the tail/mane, it brings out a lot of color for the brighter bits (yellow on the but, blue of the horns/hooves), though it doesn't look all that great in the tan on the body.. Perhaps a mix. Keep the texture in the tail/mane, lose it where it looks a littler off?
